Balloons?!?!?...

What is our fascination with balloons? Whether it is a really great twisted sculpture or a simple air or helium filled balloon most of us can’t help but smile when seeing balloons. They always make our day just a little be brighter. Is it the vibrant colors? The cool creation? Or maybe it is the endless possibilities.

I like to think it is the fact that we know balloons are only there for a moment. We know that soon they will be gone and must be enjoyed in the moment. Balloons are a great reminder that not everything lasts forever and we should take the time to enjoy them while we have the opportunity.

Whatever the reason, Higher Hope is thrilled to offer balloon art, entertainment, and decorations for a variety of events. Whether it is a birthday party, wedding, library, school, church, bar/bat mitzvah, or a corporate event I am pleased to offer fun, elegant, and unique balloon designs.

When you think of balloon art you probably think of dogs and swords. Well friend, my goal is to change your perception of what a balloon artist can do. When it comes to twisted art I am pleased to be one of the top artists available in the entire industry. The sculptures are impressive, but so is the entertainment value. I offer games, storytelling, and even educational classes with – or without - balloon props.

Twisted Sculptures

I have been twisting balloons for the last six years and am proud to be a full time balloon artist. I make elaborate sculptures and I have even created large scale sculptures for competitions and for world record attempts. I love when parents biggest challenge of the evening is figuring out how to fit a really cool balloon sculpture into the car (don't worry just ask and I'll make cute and tiny as well).

Games

I love playing and creating party games using balloons. These games are designed for party goers of all ages. Just because you’re a parent doesn’t mean you get to sit on the sidelines!

Storytelling and Shows

For millennia storytelling has been a respected art form and in many cultures the only real way truth was passed down. I am very proud to call myself a balloon storyteller. I take traditional storytelling and give it a little “twist.” By creating props and costumes out of balloons I give a whole new visual realm to the world my stories create. Using stories I have created shows about cultures, secret agents, Christmas, history, science, and I continuously work on creating new stories. These shows are great for libraries, schools, daycares, and even birthday parties. Are you covering a specific topic? We can discuss ways I can tailor my show to blend into your theme.

Balloon Twisting Classes

I have this crazy notion that every child should know how to twist basic balloon animals. Just as every child colors, paints, or draws they should experience the wonderful art of balloons. Your club, group, class, or party can learn the basics of balloon twisting in a 90 minute class. You’ll learn five basic balloon creations: dog, sword, giraffe, bear, and swan. Have fun creating these marvelous balloons for all your children, friends, and family. Also great for mission teams needing to break the language barrier. Balloons, like love, cross all challenges.

Educational Art Classes

If you have not yet noticed I have a passion for things balloon related. I mentioned earlier about my storytelling shows for schools and other events. One possible option is not to bring the balloons at all. I am also a trained speaker working with programs like Toastmasters to bring my audiences fun and entertaining speeches. While I give motivational speeches and sermons (I’m a licensed Baptist minister as well) across the country I also give speeches about balloons and my business. This is a really good option for career fairs and days at schools as well as at nursing homes. The young and old have a fascination with balloons and find it really interesting how a person like me makes a living playing with balloons.

Balloon Decorations

Not only does Higher Hope entertain and twist with balloons, but I am also a proud balloon decorator. You may only think of balloon decor as arches and columns, but because of my skill with balloon animals and twisted sculptures I able to combine what many consider two separate art forms to create elaborate designs to making any event fun, elegant, beautiful, and unique.

Community Involvement in Lewisville, TX - North Dallas Balloon Artist

[RSS VALID ?]

Lately I've been working on becoming more involved in the community in Lewisville and around the DFW metroplex. As an entertainer I get asked all the time to donate services. I love doing so, but it is almost always at peak times when I must be performing elsewhere. I admit that it got a bit frustrating having to turn so many people down. Well I'm attempting to change that and start working closely with the Lewisville Chamber of Commerce on some ideas and plans to assist others in my community using my talents.

One way is that tomorrow afternoon I'll be at the Wal-Mart in Highland Village tomorrow for their vendor fair. I don't think I'll be doing individual sculptures but I will probably be doing some balloon shows from time to time as I meet folks in the community. The event runs from 12-4 and proceeds go to the Children's Miracle Network. If you come out please stop by and say hello!

A New Family Night Performance

[RSS VALID ?]

For the last few months the Freebirds World Burritos in Lewisville, TX has enjoyed having me in on the third Tuesday of the month (that is tomorrow night) for their family night when kids eat free.

Well since Freebirds is one of my favorite places to eat and the customers enjoy it so I've expanded to the Freebirds in Denton, TX as well. I'll be going from table to table making large balloon costumes and balloon animals for kids and adults. So come on by and give me something creative. If I can't make it the first time I'll study it and learn how to make it the second.

Just remember. No cats allowed! :)

Hope to see you tonight!

Today people from the internet all over the world gathered together for Global Reddit Meetup Day. For some reason Dallas didn't have one, but my friends in Denton did. We had a blast at the picnic and then a few games at a friends house. The r/Denton people are really great fun and everyone is super friendly.  I enjoy these guys because it is such a wide variety of people with different thought processes but we are brought together by our own geekiness.
Anyway, I didn't really make balloons for the event but I did create a balloon crown for Kaitlin who was kind enough to organize the event.

Geek of a Week Balloon Art

[RSS VALID ?]
The last few weeks have been really busy. I've spent more time away from home than I have in years.
A couple of the reasons are that I was able to attend a couple of conventions I've been looking forward to for a while.

The first was Dallas Comic-Con. This was a lot of fun. Each day I wore a different Marvel Avengers (Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, and Captain America) superhero balloon costume.

I even won Honorable Mention in the costume contest for my The Inflatable Hulk costume.

Dallas Comic-Con was a blast and I even made some great new friends. I love hanging with nerds and geeks especially the creative types.

Two weeks after Comic-Con I attended A-Kon 24. That is the second largest and longest running anime convention in America. I'm not really into anime, but I do appreciate the art and many attendees have
similar interests like being big Doctor Who fans (or Whovians).

There were actually a lot more cosplayers at A-Kon that at Comic-Con. I create several different sculptures for costumes. The Bronies loved me because I made a ride-in Rainbow Dash from My Little Ponies.

I also created a rocket launcher for a girl cosplaying Soldier from Team Fortress 2 (TF2).

And finally I ended A-Kon by making a Yoda balloon from Star Wars for a friend to take home to their son.

He even had his own lightsaber.

It really was a fun month. I can't believe how blessed I am to do what I love. I can't wait for the next opportunity.

If you weed a balloon artist or decorator for your next event then please be sure to give me a call.

I won Honorable Mention at Dallas Comic-Con

[RSS VALID ?]

I had a great time at Dallas Comic-Con this weekend. I went as three different Avengers superheroes from the Marvel Universe. I had Thor, The Inflatable Hulk, and Captain America Balloon Costumes.

On Saturday I entered the comic con costume contest as "The Inflatable Hulk" (a play on The Incredible Hulk). I was so surprised by the audience reaction and I had a blast. I won the Honorable Mention prize, but since there wasn't a second or third place prize I'll just claim second place. :)

A really cool custom Dalek from Doctor Who won the contest. It really deserved that win. It was incredible.

The whole convention was amazing and I can't wait for A-kon in two weeks and WhoFest in November.

I really love what I do and when I can do it geeky then it is even better.

Catholic Balloon Rosary - DFW Balloon Decorations

[RSS VALID ?]

I created another first yesterday. I was asked by a son to create a large Catholic rosary to be released in honor of the one year anniversary of his mother's passing.

I've always said good balloon sculptures should be emotional. They don't just need to be happy or silly, but they can bring about something deeper as well.

Religious symbolism is important to so many people and expresses their relationships, not only with God, but with one another as well.

Whatever you're looking to celebrate or honor give Higher Hope Balloons a call and I look forward to creating the perfect idea for you.

Imagine a World Without Balloons

[RSS VALID ?]

A democrat from Georgia recently gave speech on the floor of Congress about why the government needs to end the sequester's effects on helium. He stated "Imagine a world without balloons" and went on to talk about how sad it would be if we didn't have balloons for children's birthday parties.

Well, for those of you that are concerned I want to give you a bit of hope. While many balloon artist do work primarily with helium, some of us that been at work diligently creating other fantastic balloon decoration designs that are stand alone. We certainly would love to have every resource available it is my belief that with a little effort we can overcome anything, including a helium shortage.

So if you're looking for exciting and creative balloon decor please make sure to give me a call at 314-346-2241.

Superhero Birthday Party!

[RSS VALID ?]

I received a call yesterday and it kinda got me excited! The lady called to book me for her son's super hero birthday party. Now, I do a lot of different themed parties. I've done clownsElmo, circus, SpongeBob, Dora the Explorer, Princess, Cowboy, Pirate, and a ton of other themed parties, but it has been years since I've gotten to do a super hero party.

The best part is that the kid is a big Superman fan. I'm a total geek and I can't wait for the new "Man of Steel" movie to come out. I've been reading comics for 20 years now and yes, you are allowed to mock my nerdiness. So I'm busy working on some balloon designs. Here are some I've used in the past:

As you can I tried to represent the DC Comics and Marvel Universe. I'm a big Avengers fan as well. I can't wait for this party!

Whatever your birthday party theme give me a call and I guarantee I will come up with some awesome creations just for you!
